This is the lathe before cleaning up. In the close-up of the apron can be seen how worse it was.
Luckily it was al dirty fat, there was no rust, but after all it was
quite a tedious yob to remove the old fat.
The shiftlever of the norton gearbox was stuck. It took a few
days of soaking in light oil (WD40) before it could be moved.
Most of the cleaning was done by a light sort of car fuel (special for
householdcleaning) Along with a scrubbing sponge.
After that the paint was brightened with Commandant, a kind of car
wax for very old paint. It takes off a little paint every time it is used, so I used it not
